Accommodation and Travel

Accommodation on Campus

Participants that have received accommodation confirmation will be staying in The Quads, located next to the main campus bus stop and just two minutes walk from the conference lecture theatre. Keys can be collected between 7am and 4am from the East Accommodation Centre, also located close to The Quads.

All rooms are single, fully furnished with bed sheets and towels, plus a small toiletry set. There is a communal area on each floor, and a kitchen which comes equipped with electric hob, two ovens and two grills, fridge-freezer, microwave oven and coffee-making facilities: unfortunately, only cups are provided but not dishes, cutlery, pans or pots - if you wish to flaunt cooking skills beyond heating food in a microwave, it is advisable to bring some essentials.

If you wish your room to be close to someone else's, for example to share the same kitchen, please let us know and we will try to accommodate your request. Please also make sure you know which day you are checking out; in case you are leaving on Saturday, and wish to visit Bath before your departure, there is a luggage storage service at no charge.

Travel Information

From Bristol and London Airports

The closest airport to Bath is at Bristol, just 14 miles away. There is a bus from Bristol Airport to Bath City Centre every 30 minutes, see for more information. If you are flying to a London airport you will need to take a train to Bath. The best route from Heathrow and Gatwick is to change at Reading for a journey time of approximately 2 hours. Most other routes go through London. You can buy tickets online or simply at the station on the day (though this is usually more expensive).

Busses to Campus

The best way to get from town to campus is by bus. To get to the bus station from the train station, leave the front exit of the train station, cross the road and turn left. Note that bus stops to the University are located opposite the bus station. Services to campus include the 17 and U1. Tickets can be bought on the bus and multi-journey tickets are available to buy with no date restrictions, see here.

Bath is easy to get to. Take Junction 18 on the M4 and stay on the A46 for about 15 minutes. Simply follow signs for Bath, then the University of Bath. SatNav users should input the postcode BA2 7AY. Note that to use the car parks on campus you will need a visitor permit, please contact us to apply for one.
